Hello SRL. It's been a while. How is everyone going?

What have you all been up to?

Im doing great, how about you @cycrosism; ?
And what about the last question, is that srl-wise or irl-wise?

Jake

How about yourself?

I am doing pretty good, thanks. I have a part time job and I study full time at university, that is why I haven't been that active on villavu. I only found out about a week ago that RS3 existed. My second question could be directed at both, but I was focusing more on IRL.

I'm doing good. What type of intern work do you do? Hopefully you're getting paid for it. Unpaid interning would be the worst. What are you studying at University? I am studying Information Technology.

Interning at Goldman Sachs, Majoring in Finance and Economics.
My original plan was accounting… but I had a change of plans.

Oh well, sounds like you are heading into a good field. I've taken a keen interest in economics in the past year or so, I am not good at it by any means, but its something I have gotten myself familiar with recently. Do you have any qualifications in that field? Or are you still studying while interning?

Villavu, where is the rest of you? I see 100 people read the thread but only two people replied. I think ever since powerbot or whatever other java bot there was got shut down that people have just come here to grab scripts and leave. Seems like the community has died a bit. :(

[Insert delayed welcome back despite me thinking I've never actually spoken to you :p]

And yes, much of Villavu has left (ban waves hit a lot of people everywhere), and much of our community is smaller and consisting more of the much newer crowd. I only came in a little while before the waves hit, so I never saw Villa at its prime, but it was definitely significantly bigger than it is now.

So how are you currently pursuing your interest in Economics? Through a degree, free time, or something else entirely?

Haha, fair enough. I don't really see many people on here from when I was active. I haven't been active for a while due to IRL things. It's sad to see a bunch of the community leave. I was much younger when I joined (I joined in 2008) and at 15 years old I didn't have much responsibilities, however now I cannot be as active as I can due to working and university.

I basically just do it during my free time. I read articles, watched lots of youtube videos that explained different concepts, and looked up things that explained the various market crashes that have occurred. Interesting stuff, and it's sad at how most of them could have been prevented. Like the 2008 market crash. That occurred because people were greedy and wanted money, but I am not going to go into that otherwise this post will be way too long. People are too greedy and mainly care about money.

I value happiness over money, and I hope I am not alone here.

I should also note that I have many other interests too, like languages and language learning. That's a fun one to study!

Im studying while interning.
Economics is a good major as well.
Rest of villavu has vanished, and the second part of your answer is technically right. Although there are other reasons for inactiveness as well

That's good. What sort of stuff do you do while interning? What sort of jobs/tasks do they make you do? Is it difficult stuff?

Oh well that's a shame. Most people may have moved on. You are all still stuck with me though :P

Full time student at university with no job until the summer so applications are going out now. Got a while until I graduate though. Going for Nuclear Engineering. I am quite fond of economics as well and hope if I ever get time, to take some classes or attend various courses relating to stats and economics. It was my initial plan to go into economics but much like Jake, my plans changed.
Really nothing much has changed for me other then the amount of free time I have, which has decreased significantly.

Hello Mate, Uni took over my life and it is quite hard to keep up with scripting and playing Runescape. Hope to get back on it during Summer 2014!

Yeah having no job while studying is the worst, unless you have your parents who pay for your expenses. I would feel bad if my parents paid for my expenses, so I am lucky I have a job. It's not anything special its just a simple job at a local retailer, so I basically just stack shelves and use the register. I hope you find a job soon, if you live in the united states I wouldn't work at a restaurant, minimum wage is something crazy like $2.36! Do you have any qualifications?

Hello there to you too old friend. Haven't spoken to you in a while, me and you go way back. How have you been? How is the studying/working/whatever you are doing now? How's things with the ladies ;)

Another old friend! How are you doing? I know that exact feeling. I started university at the beginning of 2012 and since then I haven't been as active as I would like to be. Even before that in 2011 when I was in year 12 I was only semi-active. I haven't even tried out RS3 yet, I should definitely look into it and give it a go (scripting wise) when I get a break from uni haha. I can't remember much, but I still know a thing or two. So it shouldn't be too hard to get back into it.

We do go way back. :) And I have been okay. Studying Computer Science at the University of Sydney, and it is quite enjoyable. And things are as they were two years ago, still. :(

How about you? How have you been? What have you been up to?

Oh man I was confused for a bit.
"How are you doing" is what we say in America :p (Makes more sense/seems right to me)
"How are you going" just sounds like an incomplete sentence!

Nice to see you around Cyc I've missed you, it was nice having you around here!
Hope you're here to stay for a while.

Well I will have to pay for around half of my schooling so I do a little work while I am in school and plan on working all summer, every summer to make enough to pay for books and 2 years. I already have a few jobs lined up, but I am applying elsewhere, mainly at the 2 nuclear power plants close to home to gain experience and set myself up for the future. The other jobs I have lined up are more my back-up plan if my plans don't work as I know second year students are more employed by the power plants as they have more qualifying courses 2nd year. I live in Canada and wasn't planning on working in a restaurant so I think I will be ok :p

Well that's good about the university part. What sort of things do you learn about? A few of my friends are doing a computer science course, but they only just started it not even a month ago.

I'm currently studying Information Technology at RMIT University. It's been fun, some subjects are just annoying and the things I learn from them I probably won't ever use them in my line of work. I've been okay. I have a job now but it's not anything special, I hope I can keep it while I am studying. It's not that much money, but its enough for me to cover my expenses while I am studying.

I started my own business in December 2012. It's been fun. I've been trying to make a few deals and exchanges with other companies and businesses, but I haven't been focusing on it too much because I am still studying full time and I need to devote a lot of time to that. I've been doing a few things here and there. I am hoping to basically work full time being self employed when I graduate, but I guess working for another cooperation would be fun, working by myself wouldn't really be ideal. Otherwise I don't know what to do. Not sure if IT is a field I want to go into.

Haha sorry for the confusion! I guess saying "How are you going" is a bit informal. I'm just used to saying "How are you going today?" to customers who come to my workplace. But saying "How are you doing" is probably more common here anyway/

It's been a while hasn't it YoHojo. I remember you posted a video of you on a pogo stick jumping around in your backyard, would have been a long time ago. I'll try my best to hang around, of course I am fairly busy nowadays, but I have the same amount of hours per day that Albert Einstein had, so I can't make any excuses :P

Well that's a good plan. I'm not sure if I mentioned this already in this thread but in Australia we have a program called HELP where the government basically pays your school fees and I believe if you do that you also get 10 percent off. You pay back the government for your HELP-debt through tax when you find employment after graduating. It's a really good system.

One thing I fear when I graduate is that I won't find employment. Most jobs in the IT industry here require you to have years of experience. I wonder if those companies would see self employment as experience. If they do then my chances are slightly better haha.

What sort of things would you do/be responsible for if you got a job at a nuclear power plant?
