ok so ive learnt so much already how to find colours functions loops pretty much I understand all the basics now ive written about a dozen foul proof bots with just the basics but i wonna go further as to saying i want my bot to be smarter atm ive been getting along botting in a 2d game by standing still casting spells to attract monsters agro then detecting if there in front of me via colours and searching only like 10x10 pixel witch works very well…is there other ways to do this but easyier.

ive been thinking is there ways to bot via sockets? anyway to find out what the client is sending the server commands wise then i could maybe make a grid telling the bot where it cant go also the server could be sending the bot where the enemies are on that grid's x,y this could also make looting and selling to shops a breeze but im not that sure what is and what isnt possible.

but if you know of any tutorials or something i should check out to get me on my way would be alot of help thankyou =)

None of what I'm about to mention is "easy" or "a breeze" in any way. I mean that.

For starters, cheat-engine is what is usually used.. It's not so bad I guess. I heard its even advanced now with more memory tracing features and even includes a direct-x debugger and a complete disassembler which allows you to follow branches and other "neat" features I guess..

I'd recommend you start with that because the rest of what is about to follow is pretty much intermediate to advanced..

Use a packet sniffer like wireshark or wincap.. Otherwise you can use: https://github.com/KasiR/NetworkSniffer

Which was created by @Kasi;

It'll dump information about what is being sent over a socket.

Other than that, you can use things like pix or gdebugger to debug the game if it uses direct-x and opengl respectively.

Another option is to use IDA-pro or OllyDbg.. Both for windows. IDA-Pro also works with ARM.. I used it to crack iPhone apps years ago. Ollydebug is usually used for executables. IDAPro is cleaner though even for executables.

Soft-Ice (if it still exists) is also very nice.. Note that for executables it is always going to be disassembled.. This means that it'll print code in the ASM (assembly) languages.

If it is C# then you can use DotNetReflector. If it is Java you can use FermFlower, JAD, or JD-GUI and lots of other stuff.

If the executable is packed (usually UPX) then you need to unpack it (PE-Explorer is ok I guess). If the executable is using IsDebuggerPresent then you can use various plugins to get around it for OllyDbg.

Good luck.

Games usually encrypt data through packets, making it hard as hell to actually read raw packet data, best way to go about packet interception is through inject/hook the decrypt/encrypt packet functions
and get the raw data that way. Which pretty much goes back to what @Brandon; said in his post above me.

@Brandon; Haven't spoken in ages, Skype sesh soon!
