Worth the Risk?

Hey guys. I'm fairly new to botting, and was curious how safe if was. I have a level 196 account that's my main, it's got a near 2000 total level and is a VIP member until January of 2015. Should I bot? Id love the free levels, but I REALLY don't want to lose the account. I'm also hoping to learn to write scripts in the future. If anyone has any feedback / botting advice, I'd love to hear it.

You're always at risk no matter what you use, but hands down Simba & RiD are the safest possible. My main account has never been banned for botting and it's very, very old. I write every script with one single account. But for safe measures I never purchase more than one month membership at a time incase I'm ever caught. So IMO yes it's always worth it (if you use Simba that is).

By the way, you could always make a fresh account to begin your path of botting; if you like the results and are confident that you're safe start running some scripts on your main. If you learn to make scripts on your own then use your new account, perhaps by the time you've written some good ones you will have already made that account high in levels.

Also to add on to what Flight said, make sure you don't bot 24/7 if you are worried about the account, I'd stick to 6-8 hours of botting a day to stay 'safe'.

Adding to what others have said, don't bot on an account you're not willing to lose. No amount of code quality will save you from human intervention. However, Simba+SRL is relatively safe due to a combination of
1. less attention on our community
and 2. scriptors who care about quality rather than sales.

Just a personal anecdote, I have probably a thousand hours autoed on my main. I have not yet been warned or banned.

@Flight
I'm surprised you mentioned RiD. Haven't they been target banned a few times recently? I mean, they're not Powerbot, but they're still a prime target for human intervention from what I've heard.

Also it might be hard with some skills, but try to not bot in populated areas and especially not in places where there are a ton of bots. ex. LRC (that's the only place i've been banned). Personally I babysit when I bot on my main, which has very similar stats to yours.

Beyond Villavu I've not heard recent news of anyone else. I only made that assumption based on what I used to know of RiD.

I am only going off of "a friend of a friend told me" type of hearsay, but I heard there was a big RiD target ban not long after the most recent Powerbot target ban.

There was a divination bot ban where legitimate players were also caught up in. There was a mod on twitter pretty much saying he was targeting RiD (manually, not detection based).

There were a few users manually banned by J-mods shortly after the RiD Divination bot was released.
Since then, all RiD bots were taken down for further development and a new bot is being made.

This describes me as well. Perhaps I have an edge in that I played legit for years before switching to the dark side, and I still play legit in between botting.

I think the best advice is to just make your account play on average (between legit and automated) like any player would. E.G. if you played legit all day it would be unrealistic to leave it botting overnight, and likewise if you botted for like 16 hours you should probably call it a day for that account. While they couldn't prove anything immediately eventually you'd be breaking thresholds that surpass a human's need for sleep! :p

Other tips to look legit:
-Don't use scripts that have no antiban (obvious, but some don't).
-Don't bot obvious things like picking flax/green dragons/classic stereotypical gold farming activities because JMods and Mods do actively check these areas so it wouldn't matter if your script was flawless or not if they tried to speak to you.
-Change up what you bot from time to time. 6 hours of hunter and 6 hours of divination, rather than 12 hours of divination, etc.

When I used to bot (few months ago) I botted 24/7 and my main is completely maxed (besides for 120 dung).
Never banned, nothing…

Just make sure the script is good

On your main, no. I love my main too much to risk it. My main was banned once and I had every holiday reward ever since the yo-yo, I was heartbroken. If you really care about your main, don't bot on it or atleast be extremely careful. The day you get perm banned might be just around the corner

I have never used antiban because it is useless- nobody checks their attack level every 23 seconds to see if they got a new level. Also, I don't pick up my mouse during gameplay, or mouse off of the screen, or any of the material in the includes. I might occasionally do one of those in 4-5 hours of play, but beyond that I stick to what I'm doing. I would go so far as to say that antiban is a flag in the banning process of bots to see if irregularities in levelling motion are interrupted at a regular rate within a minute. Jagex doesn't care if you play for 6 hours doing the same thing meticulously, in fact I would say that it is a common characteristic to players who play runescape all day. Scripts mess up occasionally, and with failsafes it seems almost human. My fight caver has no antiban, but it messes up sometimes (turns prayer on in the lobby but quickly turns it off, waits a bit to start fighing in the cave, readjusts the player after a while of inactivity, has randomness in clicking) all of those things are a more accomplished and unintentional antiban than what I see in most scripts. I admire people who come up with new ways to produce antiban, but only when it is absolutely necessary and doesn't happen on a scheduled bot-like basis such as every 30 seconds or after every pocket of superheating.
If you use it I don't judge and respect your decision to add randomness and charisma to your script, but these are just my views on antiban.

Well, that's why you select the anti ban to occur once every 1-5 hours. Or not even occur during the whole session. chances being one in a hundred or a thousand after every action or time or whatever it's set to. No human player trains some skill non stop for 5 hours without taking a slight break, be it toilet, water. Or browse some website. It happens. You must be very hardcore and when u play, you play it hard. Some people including me can't keep attention without doing/checking something other than the game itself.
Anti ban should be different for each script or even different on each account its being used. As everyone is different and they play differently. Within reason. But the difference between casual player and hardcore one is vast.
