Minimap disappears

Hi everyone,

I'm making a script for which I desperately need the minimap. The problem is, a lot of the times it's just not there? I can see all the symbols and dots, but not the map..

Anyone who encountered the same problem and knows a solution?

Thanks

Yeh it's a bug within runescape. Just try teleporting around / relogging.

^Pretty much. Basically the map loading got screwed up (botwatch omg panic), so you need to reload the map which is done either by logging in and out, or traveling somewhere (walk, teleport, whatever) so a new map square loads.

In my experience, this seems to happen when I start a new session with a new client spawn. Once I've been working in that session for a bit I rarely ever see it again, until I need to reload because of 6hrs or something.

ok thanks for the quick reply.

Best thing to do is write something so it logs out and back in when the minimap is gone I guess.

To detect whether the minimap is f*cked or not you could calculate the percentage of black pixels (or whatever color applies here) within a getBounds() area. If that is above a certain threshold you can conclude you don't have a real minimap present and need to reload it.

In my experience though, this issue goes away after a few minutes of walking/teleporting/logging around.

its a glitch on runescape's side. i noticed it is only in lumbridge though, if you leave lumbridge it doesnt happen anymore (atleast with me).

It happens everywhere with me, on different accounts as well as in the browser or with SMART. If I open the worldmap first, and then walk or teleport till he loads a new mapsquare, it seems to work better.

Yeah. It's a glitch in RS3. Not sure why it isn't fixed yet. Reported it so many times while legit dunging when I used to play and it still exists? :l

IIRC, it doesn't happen as often if at all in DirectX. Same with the stupid Zoom-In glitch.

Has OGL always been that buggy? I feel like not… right? There are so many terribly graphical glitches in OGL mode right now

The fastest method to fix it that I've found is to find a stairs or ladder and climb up then back down.

So it's only in GL? But SMART doesn't work with Directx right?

In another script, every time I transported to a resource dungeon to bank, I had to wait several seconds because it couldn't click anything for a while, until it zoomed out a bit and worked again. Is that what you mean by the zoom-in glitch?

So if I do my scripting with Directx in a browser these problems wouldn't exist?

It wasn't always like that. I'm not sure what in the world they did to it but before the plugin existed, it was fine.. After a couple months, bam all sorts of unfixed glitches which do NOT happen in Direct-X.. It never happened before bot-watch/bot-nuke.
It specifically started happening more noticeably when they added zoom to the camera and the new interfaces.

The zoom in glitch is also where a player may run from varrock center to varrock west bank and you'll notice it zooms in 100% on your character then zooms back out. Yeah as the guy above mentioned you can climb down a stairs and climb back up to fix it.

Yes Smart works in Direct-X mode and all modes. I updated the Direct-X plugin yesterday: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107256&p=1281935#post1281935

And yes Simba will work in your browser in any mode. Of course it works better in Direct-X than OpenGL. Not sure if you guys also noticed another glitch happening in Daemonheim but the sound actually disappears from the game in all modes and the minimap dots grow huge! That's basically why I stopped playing lol. Too much crap to deal with.

I didn't know smart works with DirectX! Thanks a lot :) that solves a lot of my problems, works like a charm!

{FUNCTION -- checkforMapGlitch
Purpose: Checks if the map glitched out which would therefore make SPS/other minimap related functions fail.
Written by: Clarity}
function checkforMapGlitch: boolean;
begin
if (minimap.getColorPercent(minimap.getBlackBackground(), 0) > 20) then
begin
writeLn('MAP GLITCH DETECTED. Logging in and out.');
players[currentPlayer].exitToLobby();
writeLn('Exited to RuneScape lobby.');
wait(gaussRangeInt(5000,7000));
players[currentPlayer].login();
writeLn('Logged back in to the game.');
result := true;
end else
begin
writeLn('Minimap appears normal.');
result := false;
end;
end;

Used this in my Barrows script. Replace 5000,7000 with a wait time of your choice. Can also replace the color threshold if you want.
