S.M.A.R.T. vs. Official RS Client, risks?

Hello,
I would like to know if the S.M.A.R.T. client has a higher ban rate than the official RS client.
I'm asking this because a lot of other bot clients out there became (sort of) detectable recently.
I hope someone can explain me why the S.M.A.R.T. client doens't or does have a higher risk.

Thanks in advance,
Wooty

Although the client can be detected (as all 3rd party client-loaders can) there's been no signs of bans from this reason alone. What gets the others banned could be one of many possible causes. They have poorly-written scripts, many users using the same scripts, they aren't smart about how they bot (multiple aspects here), the bot doesn't have good random-solvers, the user was unlucky to get spotted in a mod-sweep (or simple racked in enough macro reports), or so on…

Of course SMART and all other client-loaders will have a higher chance of being detected because the official client is 0% chance. But again, up to this point it's clear that they aren't using client-detection but rather behavior detection, above all else.

Another question: Is there a way to use SRL6 scripts without smart atm?

Yes in direct-x mode.

Is there any way to re-name the client from Smart to something else? I heard Jagex can read the title of clients lol

You have like the most annoying username ever. Apart from that, I doubt they can.

Your best option would be to just use DirectX mode.

They can, someone (I think @Brandon;?) showed that they can awhile back.

iirc smart is open-sauce, all you'd have to do would be download > edit > compile > stick in c:/simba/plugins

By "They can" I was referring to Jagex's ability to find the name of the SMART window.

Well you'll have to teach me how to change SMART it's name into something different then ;)

Would not remotely waste your time on such a tiny thing. There are MANY more things you would have to change before you think your "ahead" of jagex.

If external calls worked in Lape, you would be able to do:

function SetWindowText(windowHandle: LongInt; str: PChar): Boolean; external 'SetWindowTextA@user32.dll stdcall';

begin
smartShowConsole := false;

SetupSRL;

SetWindowText(Client.getIOManager().GetImageTarget().getNativeHandle(), 'NewWindowTextHere');
end.

Can be done in Pascal Script though. So long as you can get the native handle.. Seems to be possible according to: https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/blob/master/Units/MMLAddon/PSInc/Wrappers/window.inc#L131

Why would using DirectX mode help? Just curious :)

Thanks to everyone who replied!

Edit: Olly, where would that file be located? I searched for "client" in my simba folder but it's not the same file/script that you linked. Apologies for being clueless haha. Also what other changes would you suggest, if any are possible? I'm using the smart client to autotype for merchanting(So I can do other stuff on my computer and just leave the typer running), I actually play legit in terms of trading wit the players etc. but I still got banned a couple months back… I thought that maybe they can't tell the difference between Gary's hood autotypers and simba ones, which is why I'm looking for other factors, and I heard the client name could be something by them to issue manual bans

THANK YOU! I'll try to set this up when I have the Windows PC again!

I'm no expert at this at all, but I heard that when in DirectX mode it's possible to use another client but SMART. If that's not the case then I'll slowly step away and act like nothing happened lol.

I think you guys are over worried about SMART being detected… if SMART was detected and used to auto ban people I would have a ton of accounts banned (I bot a lot). So either they 1) aren't detecting SMART, 2) they are detecting SMART but not banning everyone who uses it, or 3) they are detecting SMART and they love me so they don't ban my guys.

I would look to other factors besides just the client as to why you're being banned (heavily botted area/poor script/other flags/etc etc IDK)

I agree with you about Smart not being auto detected, but I was using an autotyper on a high level account and still got banned, which is why I thought that they tried to detect the client in order to ban me , as autotypers aren't really a macro major offense, most you'll usually get is a mute…

I believe so, if someone could confirm this then that'd be great as I'm doubting myself here but that's what I've heard.

The SMART client is what fakes mouse/keyboard input. Why not make a script to test before you post something like that?

Then I take back everything I said lol. And yeah, I probably should've tested but I wasn't really interested in it anyways as I'm fine with using SMART.

If you don't trust the client, then run a VM and run simba on it with the browser

You can also close the screen so you save a lot of cpu.
