SRL Archive - SRL Updates & Announcements

First off..

• Update Simba, 1004 was put into the updater today (tools > update).
• Update SRL, just enable the srl extension and click update.
• Update plugins! if this hasn't been done automatic, make sure srl extension is enabled and go to view > and enable 'plugins menu' and then the plugins menu will appear, and just like srl click update.

Tesseract is a ocr that will read text for us, without the need of any fonts. :) Obviously it does take some time, few 100 ms but it isn't a deal since for fast ocr reading we will still use Simba's OCR (ie mouse-over text).

I am still not happy with the plugin, since it calls a .exe and its packaged with SRL which makes the file rather big, I plan on fixing all that in the future :)

Anyway, I just wanted to make this thread to tell you all that Simba needs updating for srl-6 to run now. I will be explaining and making some tesseract functions later. :)

Tesseract sounds awesome! First time I've heard of it but I'm defo looking forward to seeing what it can do. Nice one Olly!

Everything should be working now i pushed a couple of bad commits. :( But when the updater picks up the latest version (no more than a few hours) everything will be good. :)

That does really depend on what text you wish to read in OSR. UpText requires shadows to be read accurately so that's a no go. Other text tesseract should be fully able to read (depends on filters), tho tesseract ain't fast, and there is some overhead (due to having to call an .exe) as mentioned in the main-thread causing it to use at least 100ms to read just a few characters.
