I have been thinking about a SSD for a while now, but I really don't do a lot of gaming anymore so I don't know if it will be worth it. But I have found what I think is a great deal on a 240GB ($120) but I don't know.

Is $120 worth it for a 240GB Sata III SSD? linky

Depends what you need it for. If you want fast boot times then a SSD is for you. If you have programs that you want to open quicker (or games) then you might want a SSD. But I personally have no need for one.

Well I am a fairly casual gamer, faster boot times would be great for school stuff and opening Origin, Excel, Maple, and other various school related programs would be nice.

ahh well I don;t think you need 240gb of it? Just get a smaller size and use it just for OS and stuff you want to open quick? :D

Yea I was wondering that as well, but I like to make sure I have plenty of space in the future. As it is I have ~80Gb between my OS and programs, so a 120GB would be filled up fairly quickly with some bigger programs or games ( I currently only have UT3 installed because I haven't played it in a while).

Saw a 1TB SSD for $500
Should get it, awesome investment.

I have two in my laptop, (Originally had a hybrid drive, but weird build that the ssd and hdd were not together in one unit instead they were two separate components) So when my laptops hdd died a few weeks ago, I decided it was time to remove the hdd portion and replaced it with a 128gb ssd.

Works really nicely, get boots that are almost instant (sub 10 seconds, everytime). Everything just seems drastically faster.

I was the 1tb one as well, but I definitely don't have that much to spend on a hard drive for now. Was looking at maybe a SSD and a 2tb external drive for $90 (usb 3.0).

E: Just browsing ebay I found this, I donno if its a good deal or not, but seems like it is. Cheap 23" monitor Looking at the reviews it looks like this monitor wouldnt be all the good because of the poor viewing angle

SSD is definitely worth it…seriously. If you can't afford the upgrade but have an extra GB or 2 of ram to spare you could turn some of your ram into a harddrive cache (via software so doesn't help boot times)
Btw that looks like a great deal for that monitor!

The program is expensive but there are ways around that lol (YOU WOULDN'T DOWNLOAD A CAR)

I think I am going to buy the hard drive and migrate all of my essentials to it (OS, programs, some media files) that way should my currently primary HD go down its not a total loss. Also, I would buy the monitor except that the L702x has a horrendous time doing multiple monitors for some reason, been trying for about a week and havent been able to get it to connect via HDMI to DVI-D to a couple of different secondary monitors, called Dell and they said that it was the monitor, but this has happened on two different monitors both of which work fine with other computers, also the cable works fine on different computers).

I should mention that there are 2TB external USB hard drives available for ~$90 on ebay as well, might buy one of those seeing as my current 1TB hard drive is nearly full (~850GB worth of Media on it haha). Might just sell it after the holiday season with the media intact so that I can make a little money :P

Just noticed that this SSD is ~$350 from kingston without this sale, so most definitely am going to buy this, might buy a couple to sell later on.

SSD's are good, but at the moment for a 'casual gamer' probably not justifiable.
If you want a fast boot time then get a SSD, (install OS on to SSD).

I have a small SSD loading my OS, while I have my HDD that loads the games I play.
Significant increase in speed.
