RS2 -> RS3, SRL3 -> SRL6, OpenGL? Reflection? Can someone help get me up to speed?

Hey there, I used to script a little back in about 2010 but I quit RS during the whole trading limit fiasco. Now I've got a little spare time and seeing my brother open up an RS account I'm interested in getting back to scripting, primarily for the challenge and problem solving.

It looks like there have been some HUGE changes to both RS and SRL. I think when I left it was SRL 3 and Reflection was coming out making some huge moves with accuracy through java hooks.

I recently tried to write a simple Vial Filler script but I've run into some issues with compatbility. Functions that existed in the past no longer seem to exist.

I went to the SRL 6 documentation and read through most of them. Are they ALL the current functions available? And are they all RS3 Compatible?

In the past you could use Functions like OpenBankNPC or FindBank which contained enough pre-written code to execute these common prcedures without you having to type out 'FindColorSpiral' etc. However now it seems with this RS3 update most of those had to be chucked out and we're back to seperate color functions, is this true?

On top of this what happened to Reflection or other similar methods of object finding and walking? Are similiar things still about?

Thanks in advance.

EDIt: Another small thing, in the past I think I/We used to capitalise functions, but now in the documentation it's all camelCase. Which is preferred?

camalCase

nothing bold shall EVER be capitalized.

you're correct that SRL-6 is lacking a lot of functions.

Reflection is dead.

SPS should still work for map walking.

I'm a man of few words.

Ok, few more questions.

Tould you explain some of the acronyms? I assume anything with a T prefix is a type? But what are TRS and CTS?

What does the suffix Overload; mean?

What is Mufasa? - I will likely find that using the search function but I'll leave it here while I sleep

Whats with the interest in Pixel Shift? There's a whole utility for it but I don't understand its importance unless something has changed in RS?

Finally, is it true that they scrapped Randoms? I can imagine other antiban features are still a priority? Chat/Mouse movements?

TRS is just another prefix that is used in SRL6, it can be separated to T and RS. CTS stands for Color Tolerance Speed,

What does the suffix Overload; mean?

overload means that functions can have same name and different output like one function may result a boolean while other one would result an integer. You really should checkout SRL6's items.simba file, there overload is used most. Of course there's limitation to this, you must have different parametres for each of the functions, otherwise Simba won't know which function to call. Here's couple examples of usage of overload suffix

(* This is how it's supposed to be done *)
function findItem(item : TItem; var p : TPoint): TBox;
begin
//code here
end;

//this function utilizes the function above, taking just an item as a parameter, while the upper one has a one parameter more (p).
function findItem(item : TItem): boolean; overload;
var
p : TPoint;
begin
result := findItem(item, p).x1 <> -1;
end;

(* This is what you should evade *)
function findItem(item : TItem): TPoint;
begin
//code here
end;

(* This won't work since you have to similar functions with same name and parameters, sure they output a different value, but they can't be told apart from eachother *)
function findItem(item : TItem): boolean; overload;
begin
result := findItem(item).x <> -1;
end;

What is Mufasa? - I will likely find that using the search function but I'll leave it here while I sleep

Mufasa is just a name for a bitmap class used internally in Simba. I can't explain it further since I have little knowledge of TMufasaBitmaps.

Pixelshift, just like the name suggests is a method to detect changing (aka shifting) pixels. It can be used for animation detection and for other purposes.

Finally, is it true that they scrapped Randoms? I can imagine other antiban features are still a priority? Chat/Mouse movements?

Yes, randoms are scrapped completely since RS3 doesn't have them anymore. Antiban functions are always important so there should be no reason to scrap them.
