SRL Archive - OSR Help

hi guys, I want to learn scripting on simba, so I can learn (scripting).
I've checked out the 'beginner tutorials', tuts 'the Beginner's Simba Tutorial ' and 'how to script down your first RS tree', I copy+pasted the final code, however the scripts won't run, I believe this is due to SRL-6 (I've installed + setup correctly, I believe).

where can I find some tutorials on simba that allow me to learn scripting from a basic level with srl-6?

Copy and pasting code won't get you anywhere with concern to learning. Try following the tutorials so you get a feel for the process.
Built in procedures/functions show up if you press CTRL+SPACEBAR, so if you type in, for example, 'Radial' then CTRL+SPACEBAR a list of procedure/functions will pop up start with 'Radial'.
Doing this should help filter out any that SRL-6 no longer support (if there is any)

I think most if not all of the "Beginners Simba Tutorial" works, it's not using the SRL functions. The other one says at the top that it's out of date and uses SRL 5 not 6.

I wrote a walkthrough for SRL6 scripting but it doesn't cover programming concepts. If you're new to programming it may be best to do some generic learning first. There are links at the top for some pascal sites. The lape language used for SRL6 is similar to pascal.

Right now, the examples in my walkthrough will be broken too. There were font changes that broke anything that uses mouseover text.

I might try to fix them up this weekend. My character needs some new equipment and I need to generate a few gp :stirthepot:

but the 'how many players, player name etc.'(I mean, declare players/login player procedures) returns errors :/
oh and, I've picked up a book on Visual Basic and have been learning that too

The examples in my walkthrough should be functioning with the newest simba/smart/srl6. They do expect that you added a login with the alias WillyWonka to your player manager (on the simba menu under srl->player manager). After you add the user you can double check it by looking at the contents of SIMBADIR/includes/players/default.xml

If the simple examples won't run, you must have something wrong in your setup. Would need details of the output from the debug window and more info on what symptoms you see when you run it.
