hello guys I wanted to ask what vps or server used to run simba?

The only experience I've had is with a linux vps and I can say DO NOT rent one out. It's quite difficult to install Simba on and to be honest not worth the trouble. My recommendation would be a vps that uses Windows, even though they are a bit more expensive (from what I've seen anyways).

Could you possibly make a guide/tell me how you did it? I tried for at least 10 hours to get smart to load until I gave up. Using Wine to open Simba was easy but after that it just got too complicated. Maybe I was just not doing right…

I don't remember which version it was. Actually, you helped me try to get it working for a few hours lol. Later today I will install linux on a VM and try again. Maybe I just had a bad experience because it was my first time using the OS.

Any recommendations on what version/distribution to use for the VM?

I have like 4 tutorials on this stuff, somewhere

lubuntu + wine + simba > anything else

Oh right I did :p didn't remember :)

yeah grats has some tutorials bout it, look for his threads :)

Personally I use debian 6 or 7. and Centos 5 or 6 , since they're pretty lightweight.

Linux Vps all the way with GUI installed.. That's the cheapest way to do it. Get that bot army going!

Firstly don't bs sjoe, we hit plenty of issues (though we usually get them fixed, just the smart spawn client error we are unable to fix?).
Secondly, look into your vps before buying. Make sure they ain't going to suspend you if your going to use the cores up constantly (had issues with this before which is a pain), so you have an advantage with dedicated servers here.
Thirdly, don;t buy from cheap over sellers. Had plenty of different vps from companys for runescape botting and ones that are not and found its best to stay away from ones dedicated to runescape botting (especially bottingvps.com)

Bottom line, unless you are making a huge farm, your best off with a vps. If your looking to make a huge farm then you need to have a big think on what todo.

last I saw, the crash thing to keep going after 6 hours doesn't work on linux at all, either.

that was probably a year or so ago, I haven't really done anything rs+simba related for more than that

It usually works. Fails like 1/5 or something (using updated srl5, don't know about srl6).

I love it when you say we, when I'm always the one fixing it.

Here are your options:
I would go with a VPS if you are running a couple bots and no more.
You want about 1gb-2gb of ram for this depending if you are using it on Oldschool or EoC.
Option 2)
Buy a Dedicated server to run a bot farm on.

If you want help to setup the server on, email me: Blakenic2012@yahoo.com and I will reply pretty quickly.
If you are going to be buying a Windows server to set it up on it is a hell of a lot easier. I have had many issues running it on linux and ended up going back to windows..

Good luck my friend!
