openGL >4 clients

Runescape won't load more then 4 clients in openGL. It gives an error "Runescape was unable to enter that display mode," when trying to switch into openGL and stays in software mode.

I noticed there's 4 folders of jagexcache and jagex_cl_runescape_LIVE. Is there any way to make SMART clients share a cache file?

What kind of graphic card do you have? Get a program to check the amount of memory your graphics card is using. Does a lower/higher graphics setting allow more/less clients?

edit: I'm wrong. So, I'm the only one limited by my graphics card? I can only run 1 client.
@op maybe try using multiple user accounts

I would love to give a idea, but… I have no ideas… @Brandon when you get a moment :)

I tried this out on my laptop, the 5th client closed itself once it had loaded.

I also can only open 4 clients at a time. with what tealc was saying about gfx cards… id assume it has nothing to do with it. it happens to bmw on his laptop, which probably has some intel integrated 'card', yet i get the same on a 4gb gtx 670.

It must be jagex blocking +4 clients from the same IP address. They are cracking down on goldfarmers lately. No legitter even if he/she plays with their family should use more than 4 games from the same house IP. If the client loads, then it has nothing to do with the graphic card or OGL plugin. They are the ones telling the client to close itself. Problems with the graphic card wouldn't load the client, it would just create an error message prior to the client loading.

Has anyone tried recently with safemode? I remember I could get at least 6/7 back with SRL5 in safemode. That was after RS3, but not that long after.

Well I am running 4 on my other computer, so it's on a local computer basis, and will have to power up both laptops for another 8 if I can't figure it out.

I'm sure virtual machines would work but I'm already taxing my CPU on the D3 and WoW bots as well (somehow on a per bot basis, runescape + simba use more CPU than either D3 + DB or WOW + HB).

The default for is that the client puts you into safe mode and won't let you switch out of it. But SRL-6 won't work in DirectX or safe mode as far as i'm aware.

I've tried messing with the cache files a little, copy/paste them and edit them to have cache4, cache5, etc. but it doesn't help.

I doubt they'd do it by IP address because then a school could have a max of four people playing at a time. Maybe MAC address, that would just limit it to the device I think.

You could manually create the caches, just copy jagexcache and add a 5, 6, or 7 after it.

When's "before".

Try it now and see if it works. I've run 30 safe mode bots before, this is about OGL.

I maxed out at 5 OpenGL/DirectX clients on Smart.
I maxed out at 2 OpenGL/DirectX clients on the official client (some advertising thing blocks you from opening more even if you're a member).
I maxed out at 4 OpenGL/DirectX clients on the browser.
I maxed out at 5 OpenGL clients on Powerbot.

Maxed out at 9 Safemode clients on Smart/Browser.
Maxed out at 12 Safemode clients on Official client.

None of which were logged in. I tried them with and without the plugins. There is a client or hardware limitation. After 4-5 clients, it forces you to safe-mode.

You cannot overcome this limitation by running 5 in OpenGL and 5 in Direct-X. I tried that as well. You can however mix-match them (3GL, 2DX, etc..).

After hitting 5 clients in OpenGL, the Direct-X button is actually no longer available/there on the sixth client and it goes into safe-mode with the only other option being OpenGL mode which it won't let you enter.

It's safe to say that safe-mode/cpu-mode allows more clients whereas the graphics card will only allow 5.

P.S.
I'm not actually sure how you guys are able to run 30 safemode clients.. wtf? I can't click anything after 12-15..

Ya, at least for me, the 30 safe mode clients was in the past, i.e. reflection era.

Since the include only works in OpenGL, I didn't even try safe mode, but I am sure I would come to the same conclusion as you.

I was able to put

3 smarts on a vm (they were botting)
3 rs browsers on my actual computer (login screen)
1 rs browser on another vm (login screen)

so I had 7 open, guess vm's work ?
