Is anyone else feeling slightly leery of Wanted (Returns)?
Seems like he is trying obnoxiously hard to make a positive "impact" on the community (to garner the popular vote?) to be reinstated…yet the link in his signature that "summarizes" his banning (or time period around it) is written in an incredibly condescending manner, stating "facts" which appear to fully contradict the stated opinions of other old timers (who's opinions I value). Any thoughts anyone? Have any of the admins/mods started to talk about the possible outcomes?

I guess this discussion is more for people who were around when he was banned but I'll throw in my two cents anyway: He seems to be trying hard (too hard) to fit in, thus creating a attention scenes like that deleted thread and his wanted returns group.


What was he banned for? And how long ago was he banned?

I would of presumed it would of been a heated discussion on the higher boards. I obviously wasn't around at the time but I'm sure that his ban was justify able at the time.
Not a fan of his. He tried to add me and I decided to decline it. Hes trying to come back into the community in my eyes and trying to get there way too quickly.
I don't think he should be "reinstated" at his current level. If he wishes to start as junior member and have his old account back (but being rolled back to jr member ofc) then I'm fine with that.
I can't comment too much as I'v only seen his activity over the last week or so. Its truly up to the people who knew him well to give their opinions(Not going to stop me giving feedback of course).

I'm still puzzled as to why he is here. Some of his actions suggest that he wants to put the past in the past and help people script, but the rest of his actions seem like a campaign to stir up discussion about his ban. Doesn't make any sense to me.

did you know you're speaking to the man who has re-written his own completely new (nearly completely different) versions of SRL?

I think he's just looking for attention. If he was serious about becoming part of villavu again he probably wouldn't act like this.

That being said I'm relatively new here so there may be things I have wrong.

We allowed it before. Note that there are more members who were banned for scamming etc who came back. If we think someone became more mature, or at least older we often allow them in again. Note that young users breaking the rules can become completly different persons when they are two years older.

In this case, icefire was never banned for scamming or even 'breaking the rules'. So I guess in some way you can say this is different. We will see what will be decided.

During SRL's long history some people have come here with bad intentions. I am sure Wanted (aka: Icefire908, most wanted, wanted, wanted returns) is not one of them. He once was a well respected member of our staff and a very active developer of SRL. But he felt he needed to do more, he was maybe looking for more appreciation, and in the end he disavowed SRL by copying lots of SRL's code, porting it to SCAR, removing our credits, putting in his own, and calling it OSI. Next he relentlessly advertised his "creation" here at SRL and started luring people over to Freddy's forum. He started to get really on peoples nerves. He would have been banned a long time before that, if it wasnt for me. I kept him "alive" for quite some time. Why? Well, I must say, I kinda liked his approach. He has the unprecendented gift of the word, he's intelligent and cunning. Those are really very powerful tools in our ascii world. But the situation grew so tense that no alternative but a ban-poll was executed. After a couple of intense goodbyes (can be found by looking for posts of the user named "Most Wanted") he decisively went to Freddy1990 developing OSI.

If it is my say then he will be banned.

I reread all the threads dedicated to this matter and my final word where then and are still now: Too Many Alphas.

Don't really know the guy but how hard can it be to give him a chance? all our stuff is open source anyways. it's not like the same crap can go down. if it does, i really don't think managing one user will be any sort of problem.

I don't really know him, but i remember him back in the 2008, when i joined.

Well, i think you guys should give him a chance, he hasn't really made that much posts only 47 for now? give him a chance… keep an eye on him in the mean time, if he does something stupid go for hammer-time!

After a while he will realize that he is really wasting his time on the forum by posting random crap. At a later date (I suspect about a month from now-ish) he will come back and decide that he wants to contribute. He will more than likely add an apology thread in with his return. I am just speculating.. I could be wrong. It just seems to be pretty common with these kinds of cases.

He seems quite egotistic. Would be okay if his overly boasting attitude compared to what he seems to be blathering about. I for one now see that his arrogance far outweighs his apparent intellect or achievements here at SRL. I would even go as far to say maybe he's emotionally unstable. Good job on the decision SRL Admins.

Being completely honest i was rooting for Wanted at one point, He just seems like he doesn't know how to interact with people.

Being completely honest i was rooting for Wanted at one point, He just seems like he doesn't know how to interact with people.

I was talking with him by PM both here and on scar-divi and he's polite and helpful there, but was very evasive over a simple question.

I still feel bad for him, he seems to try to be nice sometimes but he's very inconsistent. Almost like talking to two different people.

He actually did do a lot for the SRL community and code, and put a lot of time into it. I think that what got to him was that he wanted to "shine" and stand out from the other devs, he wanted to be recognized for all of his time and work. I guess he felt that the appreciation the members have for the devs wasn't enough, and wanted to be thanked personally for everything. However, being a dev isn't about that, it's about supporting this community and your other devs. This is a group effort, not a lone wolf scenario.

Hell, I feel this way at my office, but I have to remind myself that all the work I put in is for the better of the company as a whole. Sure, I may not get a lot of personal recognition for the insane amount of time, hours, and dev time I put in, but I know that my company and fellow colleagues appreciate it due to the fact that I'm still here. I'm a part of a team, and we work together to get things done. It's just how it goes.

I'm not defending his arrogance, just stating my opinion as to why he is probably so arrogant. I totally agree, it isn't needed at all and if it wasn't for that, he'd probably still be a valuable member of this community.

Only really communicated with him over his members application, but I've read some of his posts and I dunno, I kinda like him. He's a very sharp individual and I can't help but read what he has to say.

However I do feel he has this aura of immaturity about him that I find annoying considering his experience on forums and his age (21).
