@Brandon; It looks like you have some knowledge about this. Maybe you'd like to help him and push him in the right direction? :)

Brandon has knowledge with hooking WebGL for RS3 and OpenGL ofcourse. But I don't think he has been busy with hooking the Javascript stuff.. but you never know with Brandon :)

It has been less than a week but if he continues to provide updates he definately deserves it. Unfortunately I don't know too much about Javascript, learning it right now though :P

I agree with J J, his javascript hooking is still quite new as he's only just begun working with it. I'd say wait a little while and see how far he progresses. It is pretty interesting though…

I'd like to see some more progress on the project before giving the cup out.

I'm for it, perhaps it may encourage more development on the subject :]

We thought that about the guy who worked with Silab on the original OGL intercection, Mato (I believe was his name) who did the Direct X interception, and someone else (whose name escapes me) who did the advanced MM to MS conversion. All three looked to have potential, gave them the cup/rank, they left.

Well SilentWolf still exists on other forums but I haven't heard from him in a while. Silab is at Mopar and Mato is busy. Really though, there isn't an OpenGL cup and probably never will be one but I can't really "blame" them for leaving because they had no help and no one else knew anything about game programming.. Not to mention that even if they did succeed (which they did imo), no one really "used/uses" it and eventually it gets boring.

However, I see the HTML5 thing as a next step in the world of options. Well.. that's if Jagex keeps pushing the HTML5 updates and stuff.
I mean, a lot of scripters and programmers know Javascript and HTML so even if they don't know WebGL/OpenGL, they can still get somewhere with a bot. Not sure if that'd be for Simba but I still think a promising newcomer rank isn't bad at all for the work and proof he has so far.

You're saying it like they came here for the cup, and when they got it they had nothing here to do and thus they left.

Giving the promising newcomers a cup that is for promising newcomers won't do any harm. The cup is meant to be a motivation for things to come further down the road if they keep it up; not the other way around.

It is a cup of encouragement. I see no reason why we should not grant it to him/her.

For reference, here is the thread in the SRL Members section about granting him/her the "promising newcomer" cup. It is (at the time of writing) unanimous: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106121

It seems like he's coming along fairly well with it, even started on a basic GUI. Let's go ahead and give the cup shall we?

Also a Members' thread now: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106121
So I think we should just give it to him ASAP :)

As all the proponents of not granting chemicstry a cup have switched positions, granted cup. :)
