Ok, I've had Simba for a while, I had 993 as of a couple days ago working perfect until the 1.0 update. When that happened it updated my extensions ect, after that, closed Simba and went to reopen and ever since I have had this error.
Program exception!

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, I have tried deleting my settings.xml, but it just makes a new one when I open it, with the same error. Like I said, this only started happening when I tried moving to 1.0. Can someone help me please?

Oh god…there was one guy who had this same error..he solved it by reformatting windows. I imagine that's not really the solution though…

Try maybe uninstall/reinstall C++ redistributable(Not sure if simba uses), and maybe Java. Also, maybe try uninstall Simba using something like Revo, to scan for any registry entries.

Yeah I'm not gonna reformat windows lol. That seems a little overboard, but I'll try scanning for any registry entries. This really has me baffled. It's frustrating. Thanks for your help!

Try do a CheckDisk as well. That may help. This error seems to be a memory access thing.

override update? I had that when I first had simba and it worked.

The C++ Redist nor Java would cause this… Might be sqlite libraries maybe? or some conflicting libffi library, tho prob not.

I'll compile you a debug Simba soon so you can give me a proper stack trace, then I'll see what I can do about fixing it.

Try this one: https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/releases/download/simba-1.0.1/Simba.exe

Then give me the stack trace.

I re-installed SIMBA and then used your .exe to launch and when I tried to run the sample script -

program new;
{$DEFINE SMART}
{$i srl-6/srl.simba}

begin
clearDebug();
setupSRL();
end.

I didnt get the EAccess Error I got the following -

Warning: The include directory specified in the Settings isn't valid.
Exception in Script: Unable to find file 'srl-6/srl.simba' used from ''

Theres actually 2 threads going on about this same issue -

http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68398&page=12

It probably easier if we all just use the same thread …

I have also done some de-bugging here but now cant find any way to handle this issue -

Exception in Script: Unknown declaration "UpCharsEx" at line 1010, column 44 in file "C:\Simba\Includes\srl-6\lib\core\text.simba"

I talk about it on the thread above but just so you know there are others with this issue as well.

Thanks Dgby714 … I have updated fonts … multiple times … I got the master file and copied it into my SIMBA install and I still get the same error. I also deleted my settings.xml file but nothing seems to be working. Not sure what else to try at this point … other than to reformat my computer and reinstall windows which sounds a bit excessive.

Also, Have you set your Simba to Lape? SRL-6 is an include for Lape scripts.

I have indeed … I was familiar with Lape before SLR-6 from Flights Livid script … This feels like its actually an issue with that UpCharsEx declaration and the text.simba file?

No, It seems your Simba isn't loading the UpCharsEx fonts from the fonts directory. Can you check to see if that font is there?

You'll find them here: [SimbaDir]/Fonts/UpCharsEx

Hmmmm … Interesting … its not in there … can you share a link to that folder? This is what I have in Simba/Fonts -

BigChars
CharsNPC
CharsTrade
FriendChars
LoginChars
SmallChars
StatChars
UpChars and
XPChars

UPDATE - Its worth noting that folder is not in the SIMBA-MASTER file either …
