Differing Amounts of CPU Usage

I'll preface this by saying that this hasn't been like this until ~1 week ago and I believe I had already updated to SMART 8.2 before that and everything was fine (trying to pin down any changes made).

Running a number of accounts all on the same script, same CPU usage in RS settings, same graphics, etc. Literally nothing is different. All low latency worlds. Location is empty so the scenary graphics-wise per account is the same.

I'm getting sporadic CPU usage from some java instances whereas others are normal CPU use.

Normally, an average instance ran at 5% CPU Use on an i5-3570k OC'ed (the higher instances suppress the low ones from 5% to 3% in this case since i'm running at 100% now).

Coincidentally, I run the instances spread across 4 simba's and there's 4 instances running at normal CPU use (but it's not 1 java per simba lol). If I lump them all into one, I get max memory errors and random crashes (not close to maxing out RAM).

Let me know what you think.

Are the four with low cpu usage lagging a lot more in comparison to the others?

I think it's just that the other 4 don't have access to the CPU usage that they actually need. I'm guessing if you close 2 of the four, then the cpu usage of the lower ones will go up ad you will still be at 100% usage.

E: Have you updated java recently?

No they all perform in-game basically the same per my reports for items/hr.

I minimize all instances to as before that reduced CPU by a good margin.

And on start-up, some instances startup running at 15% and others at the ~4%.

Ya, edited. Mistyped writing it out as my main comp is a i7-2600k but only fixed the last part of it.

This is truth.

ah ok, wasn't sure if you were on an i7 or i5 because of that :P

Possibly some of the smarts are using more of the GPU than the others? I know when I had a server running runescapes, having a dedicated GPU dropped cpu load, which made no sense to me.. but it did.

Because you're of course maxing out the JVM's memory. I know for android emulator, the max you can allocate on Windows is 768mb. For java I know it is under 2GB on x32 JVM and roughly 2.2GB on an x64 JVM. It does NOT matter what architecture your OS is..

x64 OS with x32 JVM will still be under 2GB allocation size. Linux does not have this problem. Sometimes on Windows it can allocate more depending on the amount of programs running, etc..

I minimize all instances to as before that reduced CPU by a good margin.

Because Smart does not draw when minimized.. It only writes to Simba's buffer. This is the near equivalent of disabling Graphics on smart.

Yeah because the more programs running, the less CPU time other programs get hence why the other processes' CPU is lowered..
For example, try putting Simba's main thread in an infinite loop with 0 sleep. You'd probably almost max out CPU usage because that one thread is hogging all of it. If it doesn't work with Simba, try it in a program you wrote.

Your OS could be giving the last process ran more priority over the CPU and thus it has more opportunity for CPU usage. Considering the amount of "java.exe" I'm seeing, I'd say that looks fairly normal. I don't see 12% CPU usage as a big deal..
