It's fun to start over like that, I was thinking of backing up everything when I was editing my partitions from an earlier setup, but in the end I just backed up my simba folder and some tools like ACA. I don't use this pc for anything important that isn't already on dropbox.

I just run all my crap portable (simba is by default) and leave it in a separate drive, can reformat whenever I feel like it.. windows & linux

Hmm… That sounds like a good idea. I might try that.

yea crap like firefox, thunderbird, chromium (not to be confused with crappy google chrome), vlc etc can all just be installed & their folder copied and pasted anywhere and they'll work, their cache gets saved in your cache directory for windows.. %appdata% so I mean, I don't really care about that crap most of the time

go to about:config of your firefox and do something like

notice I point my cache to my S drive, that way it goes around with my aurora (firefox alpha) install http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/aurora/ firefox works the same ofc

most stuff can be done similar.. stuff like vlc you really have no reason to save any cache
