Thinking about RS3 Client Size

I've put this question in the Jr. Members' section because some of us here will release scripts, and some of us will become members. Either way, we will influence the future of scripting here at Villavu. Until recently, the only graphical requirements were to use the min graphics setting, fixed screen size, and the Safemode setting. Now, with the release of RS3, there is the option of a fully customizable client space. And this is the heart of my question.

RS3 presents scripters with some challenges. Personally, I like the customization. I like the expanded minimap view and the ability to have frequently used windows instantly available. However, I see that this can make for some interesting situations when folks start using new scripts. When a user launches one of your scripts, it is probable that their 'default' layout does not match the one you used when you wrote your script. The size of the client, the size and location of any of the windows can be different including the minimap, the backpack window, etc. The size and location of the various windows in the client will all present us with the challenge of how to locate and click on the things we will need to use in a script. Even the location of things like the bank screen and XP counters can be changed.

So, the question I have is how do you intend to handle this? Will you require the user to set up the client in a particular manner? Will you try to do that via your script? Will you simply require the use of the 'Old School' set-up? Are we going to establish a 'standard' for the scripting community or will it be a free-for-all?

What do you think?

Yeah. I saw that. I am really more curious about the interface setup that folks are going to want to use. Perhaps should have made this a poll.

I assume we will have to use a default pre-set layout … its really the only way to standardize the way RS3 is presented. I have thought about this as well though …
