Reheehealy… Is that so? I can see that Simba (pre-compiled binaries) might struggle on some Linux distro that's not based on the distro it's compiled in, but it should not really be any problem.. If there is problems, it might be resolved by recompiling Simba on that distro (depending on the problem). If you say Simba works on LUbuntu AND Fedora.. Then it should work just as well on a LOT of other distros then.. (Ubuntu-based, and RHEL-based/Similar), from the top of my head: I can remember that I have had Simba on LMDE (mate), Fuduntu(gnome), PCLOS(kde), and Mageia(KDE)..
Java have never been an issue for me, and I have used a lot of distros. If however Java is being an ass then you can use OpenJDK(includes JRE) instead of Oracle JDK which might be a little more straight forward.
good for you, what I said maybe went way over your head?
wheels work fine on any vehicle
engines work fine on any vehicle
but you need proper wheels, to go with your engine.. because little bicycle wheels won't hold that kind of weight
simba & java, together.. java mainly, doesn't play nicely on an assload of distros, I don't really care if you can get it to run or not… compared to fedora & lubuntu (both latest and greatest for the most part) there are many distros that struggle to run it well, you'll get much more from those two
