Due to the idiocy and immaturity of a few SRL Members abusing the reputation system, handing out negative rep has now been disabled for all members ranked below SSRL.

*looks around nervously* I wonder who could have caused this

I should probably get de-repped for that ^^ but on a serious note it was abused alot.

I'm confused on how they do this. Like giving -rep for no reason?

I'm for it. People were absolutely abusing the reputation system by flaming others anonymously without it being publicly displayed. As I've always said reputation should be viewed purely as a form of inspiration, never the other way around. We don't make progress by attacking others. This is a literally example of "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything".

Is it possible just to disable it for the immature members?

tbh since this thread is the member's+ section you should really just tell us who was abusing it.

Every time a rep battle happens, I always see mods/ssrls/admins say stuff like "rep doesn't matter so why are you immature phaggots getting so anal about rep". But if rep doesn't matter then why revoke the privilege to de-rep because like you all say, it doesnt matter right??, like wtf, this doesn't make sense. Rep doesn't mean shyt if 99% of the people on here can't de-rep. Rep used to be a way to keep people in-line, for fear of being derepped and losing precious green boxes.

now rep can only be given, not taken away (for 99% of us). So it's not really repuation, because in reality a person's reputation can be good OR bad, but nowaday's on villavu only ssrl+ can derep, but most of those ssrl people are too nice to derep(shout out to my boys olly and jingle!).

I guess I was okay with -repping being removed for regular and jr members, but no, I don't agree with whoever's bad decision it was to not allow members to -rep anymore.

If your best idea is to remove an entire group's privileges because of the acts of a few, then you're dumb

Revoking the right to de-rep has been on the table for quite some time now. We have had a separate group where we placed members that were abusing the system, but that hasn't worked out too well. All of the active staff have agreed on this decision to revoke the privilege for people below SSRL to de-rep somebody, due to the extent active members were forming factions and attacking each other, leaving behind abusive and negative remarks on an individual regardless of the content that he/she has posted. Don't blame me, blame your fellow members.

In time, we may very well reinstate the ability to de-rep somebody. But for now, it's not in the cards.

It's not that they're too nice, it's just that they're not irresponsible and abuse the system.

By the way, if you want to debate, please next time try to form at least a semi-intelligent reply and to keep the cussing and insulting language (which is against the rules) out of your response. Thanks.

The decision is final, and I had accidentally stickied this thread instead of closing it, and now that shall be rectified. /Closed.
