Client detection

I recently got back into using Simba after a long break and used it right up until the rs3 update with no problems. But I have been lurking the Powerbot forums and it seems that Jagex have really hit RSbot hard with that whole client detection stuff.

Should we be concerned Jagex could possibly detect the Simba client or is it that SRL-6 will be that awesome it won't ever get detected?

Any insights much appreciated!

Without repeating past topics, I'd simply say that the RS client does not detect Simba as it has little to nothing to do with the RS Client.
I'd also suggest reading through some old threads to gain more insight and/or knowledge about this topic.

Its seems very possibly ,that Jagex is detecting name of window where game is running. Dunno how is it possible with java, since its using jvm so it should not have access outisde. I have got 10 bans so far (I have been using different IPs) etc . Scripts did not fail ( I used 4 different scripts..) and I played in random free area of 07. Also was playin legitly for few hours. Still got ban..

I am just rewritting one of my scripts and I will not run it in SIMBA ,but instead in broswer with normal mouse to see, if I get ban also.

Were you running Simba or Powerbot when you got the ban?

If you are using SMART, those are two different from one another (from Simba). @Hadley;
Also, having the SRL Community here, I'm sure there's aplenty of people who could help critique your code to make sure it's well built, or better revised. (After all, nothing is definition "perfect")

I haven't received a ban, yet.

Thanks for all the comments, I was just curious about all the happenings in the botting community lately. :p

Using Java you can grab the window handle via:

public static long getWindowHandle(java.awt.Frame frame) {
return (Long)invokeMethod(invokeMethod(frame, "getPeer"), "getHWnd");
}

protected static Object invokeMethod(Object o, String methodName) {
Class c = o.getClass();
for (java.lang.reflect.Method m : c.getMethods()) {
if (m.getName().equals(methodName)) {
try {
return m.invoke(o);
} catch (IllegalAccessException | IllegalArgumentException | java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
break;
}
}
}
return null;
}

Then using JNI, you can just do "GetWindowTile(JavaWindowHandle);" and it'll return the name of the window.

Whatever 3rd party client you're using, it's detectable. But as far as I can tell SMART would rank among the least threatening because it simply loads the RS client; no modifying and so forth. Although, in SMART 8.2 we once again have the ability to utilize Reflection (specifically for OSRS), and I'm no java guru but I also don't see this as a problem simply because of how reflection works (to my knowledge anyways).

You can always simply use Simba in your browser without the use of SMART; this option is and always will be available. But again, in my opinion, SMART really does not pose a threat to Jagex; no more than any other 3rd part client like Swiftswitch (which has been approved by Jagex, believe it or not)…

Didn't swiftswitch actually do something to the client? (still don't know how it did that but just read up on it) I remember it would force switch worlds (awsome feature) . But I know swiftkit is pretty much a windows vb app loading the rs client page

If this is within the capabilities of Jagex to do, do you have any theories as to why they're not doing it?

I would imagine because the massive number of player's they've already detected. Could you imagine the financial loss if 2/5ths or 3/5ths of the members in Runescape were banned and no longer paying membership fees? :/ Ouchies for Jagex…

Well maybe my account's days are numbered, but as a F2P'er they don't have much to lose by banning me unfortunately. I don't subscribe, don't buy spins or runecoins, and now that I bot I don't even watch ads. (For some reason when I use a browser or the official client I get 20 seconds of interstitial (full java screen) ads after logging in, and I have never had these when using SMART. Maybe SMART has some sort of built in adblocker?)
