I'm in need of someone to tell me how stupid I must be, because I can't seem to fix this issue.

Anyways, in order to load runescape I've had to use Java 6. Forever. If I download Java 7 and try to load runescape through a browser I get a ClassNotFoundException for "client.class"

And when I try to load runescape through a simba script, it comes with an error as above with a message "Error starting SMART, ensure the target page has an applet declaration"

I know it isn't a script issue because when I have Java 6, the simba script works fine and I can load runescape through the browser.

If anyone has ANY clue what might be the problem please post! I'd really like to use an up-to-date Java version rather than resorting to Java 6.

Thanks!

I think your Path environment variable is pointing to Java6 and not Java7.

As much of a pain as it might be, you may want to remove both java 6, and 7. And then go ahead and re-install java 7 both 32, and 64 bit. See if that helps. Java 7 used to have a lot of problems, but it's been getting better.

C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_15\bin

^That is what it currently is. What should it be?

EDIT: That's the value of the "JAVA_HOME" variable. I haven't had any problems with it before, should I change it?

I've tried that multiple times, Java just hates me :(

Try in the variables, make sure that the java path is included in the PATH variable as well.

Open command prompt type "java -version" hit enter. That will tell you which java is in your path. If you get unrecognized command you don't have java in your path.

Well according to my environment variables I have a path set there. I've tried changing it to a few different paths (different suggestions from threads I found using google) and I still can't load runescape through browser/SMART

Alright, now the CMD that pops up for the SMART client closes immediately after popping up, and the debug reads *SMART Cannot spawn Client*

Played around with my paths and made sure I definitely had the 64-bit version (I seemed to have downloaded the 32-bit versions…awkward)

Sorry for the triple post, if anyone could post a screenshot of what they have for their PATH variables I'd appreciate it. Because from the looks of it I have it set right so it should be working…

EDIT: AND now runescape says I don't have java installed on the website…
