Directx can only be used in the java client. html uses webgl or something like that.

WebGL is GPU acceleration for browsers. Pretty much OpenGL for the browser. So yes, it does use your GPU.
DirectX is Windows only and OpenGL/WebGL is cross-platform. That is the reason why Jagex went with WebGL so RuneScape 3 can run on all platforms (Windows, Macintosh, Linux distro's).
If you play the Java version you can play with DirectX.

OpenGL doesn't use your GPU… it's so laggy for me on OpenGL rather than DirectX. And I wanna play on the Beta so I can seee far, test the graphics.

Jagex has stated that DirectX should give you a higher performance on a Windows machine. There shouldn't be a huge difference though, maybe a maximum of 5 FPS. If there is a bigger difference try updating your drivers.

Hmm. I would love to test this on a machine with a FireGL or Quadro workstation card, ie a gfx card optimized for ogl rather than directX like 99.9% of all consumers have.

Consider buying the Dell Precision M3800 Mobile Workstation :) Only thing is that it's going to push you back around 2000$. But yeah it would indeed be interesting to see how that works out. Here are the specs by the way.
15.6" screen 3200x1800 resolution
8mm on thinnest point, 18mm on thickest point
Intel Core i7-4702MQ @ 2.2-3.2 Ghz
Nvidia Quadro K1100M 2GB
16GB RAM
512GB SSD![]()
