So, Kevin and myself were thinking. The last competitions didn't turn out so well. So why not add a new flair to them?

School is over, so there is plenty of time for everyone to script, which was a big reason last time.

Here's our idea:

We have everyone script something for one specific task, with specific goals in mind. The challenge? To outpace and out perform the other competitors. We'll offer 10 points on speed, and 10 points on coding style,(So we don't just get static clicks, ect)

Basically, you would have to preform 5 loops of your script, first to complete = win

Also to get new users to join, Kevin pledged 75M if the winner is Member or lower, or 35M if its a Member+

Judges would be Kevin, and the SRL judging team.

Thoughts?
@Hobbit could we assign the winner a cup also?

What would an example be? Like a race from one point to another or something like that?

That's a good idea, actually it would even be fun to write a script that runs from one point of RS to another, w/o teleports and to do that back and forth a couple of times and see who wins. Everyone could make fresh accounts and such to do it…. I think it would be a fun event. However if we are afraid of jagex showing up and ip banning or w/e - we can just do time trials of it.

Pretty simple, but it's something - I know you were probably thinking something else (like doing agility course or something), but I'm cool with whatever

If part of the marking came from the script like you say then we could give the cup to the winner.

So I have the go ahead to make the thread for this official?

Talk to the "SRL Judging Team" and make sure they are game for judging it.

I think only Ashaman, Xol, and myself are all that's active of said judging table.

Up to judge mate?

Yeah I can, what is going to be the actual task?

Probably making a script, first to 10 loops or w/e wins.

10 loops of what though?

Idk.
We need to pick a task.

What should it be?

Sure I have some free time this summer anyway! Make the task something harder lol

We don't know the task, that's just how they're going to be judged. :3

10 points for code style (static clicks/waits)
10 points for your place finisher.

The task is to be decided.

I have some intermittently spaced spare time on my hands, and would be able to judge too.

I like the idea (granted it is either 1. a "task" TBD, or 2. anything or any script type), also, perhaps offering some suggestions depending if the range of task is small?

is place finisher the place that a person turns their script in from the start of the competition?

They'll have to script a pre-determined task set by us.

We'll gather all the scripts, and then add a timer.
After 10 or 20 'loops' of the mainloop in their script, we mark the time

The script with the fastest time wins

Ah, in that case, would it be useful to time the task itself from the entry task to the finishing task as it occurs in game too? Or should we focus on depicting the mainloop within the script and add a timer as you said for measure.

Idk, mainloop would be easier, then we can just rate their code out of 10, and their ranking out of 10

@Ashaman88
@Justin

This thread got greenlit by Coh3n, so if y'all wanna (already talked to the aussie) judge, please let me know so we can work everything out and refine the idea.

I think I'm gonna ask Bonsai to help judge as well as Kevin (Kevin came up with the idea originally.)

Thoughts on them? I think they're rather qualified.

Yes to all - but did we ever figure out what the task was going to actually be?

Was going to throw all the judges into a skype conversation or an IRC group or something then we can all flesh it out together.
