Tons of Bans

So Jagex is legitimately kicking up the ban-waves, hitting many of us and even taking on some simba bots (albeit with manual bans afaik :P). Tons of bans have been happening lately and it's a little crazy. So my big wonder is: do all these bans happen at roughly the same times of day (their workday) or are they doing these bans 24/7 throughout the day?

I'm very interested what the ban rates on time of day (relative to England) are for everyone. If it's just limited to their work-days, I think we can start to fight back even harder with some new '8 hour sleep' logic during their work-days. It would be easy to implement in just about any script and could save many an account - if the bans are limited to their times of day like I hope (and want to hear from you guys about).

orrrr just babysit your account and put bot off when you walk away from pc

I'm pretty sure the manual bans are done in the daytime. (daytime in England)
Not that they will hire people to ban bots at night :p

So yea but during workdays at worktimes and no manual bans :D
Probably not that easy but whatever

i have just embarked upon the long road that is maxing out 2 main accounts, currently doing 0730-2330 ish everyday (english) and im still fine :) im only using simba at the moment, not a big fan of PB.

i have only just started botting EOC about a week ago after a 2 year break though :p

Then what do you mean by babysitting? Watching it all the time? If not, walking away would be no problem - basically the same.

you can walk away for a short time

This is the first I'm hearing about it today, looks like things are serious this time. Glad I decided not to bot overnight, that would have been bad to wake up to. So for me Jagex would be asleep from 8pm to 2am, although I don't know what their office hours are (I assume they don't work until midnight).

Here's some food for thought.. It's summer time and Monday was the last day of exams for MOST schools here.. Guess who's finished school? Jacmob and a bunch of others. Developers have a lot more free time in the summer.. Expect the unexpected. The did say that during Summer botwatch would be turned on/up didn't they? I saw a forum post on this before.. It was said to have been be turned off.

I'm not familiar with the names/ages of any of the mods although I have heard 'Jacmob' referred to as a legitimate programmer of theirs. Is he still a student and not a full time employee - thus bringing his efforts up now?

I see all this jump up in effort as a challenge to rise to. Scripts that become even more versatile will win the charge and avoid bot-watch simply by avoiding singular areas (the manner it seems bot-watch is implemented). I look forward to this.

I've never heard of bans taking place during the night in the UK (like 9pm - 5am?) but that being said who knows what could happen. I remember Asha having something in his script so that if a mod was detected the account logged out, this could be useful but again would still not guarantee 100% safety, and that being said there is never any safety but it reduces the chance.

Mod detection should be in everyones' scripts. The mod symbol is searched for in the chat using a simple FindNormalRandoms call. That's all it takes to hop away from a mod.

Aye if the mod speaks it would be good. But has anyone actually seen any of the bans? It would be a great thing to see it in more scripts for extra safety but who knows if they actually speak or are visible when the bans take place :S

This.
If a JMod enters an area solely to ban players they would make sure they don't alert any potential bot 'babysitters' to their presence

I would say that botting during England's nightime hours would be the best bet. I havent been banned yet for botting (several large RWTs unfortunately) but I agree, Mods dont walk in to an area to ban people talking away. My guess is the manual bans are given by the mods when invisible. I have not seen a manual ban before (except when Jacomb was on OldSchool banning them for show). I would say that not botting during the daytime, and at places that are common for bots would be the safest. I bot my main during the night when I sleep, I wear skilling outfits, make it take randomized breaks throughout the time it is botting (from 5-6 minutes "pauses" IE. walking away, food ect) logs out for a 30 minute to 2.5 hour long period, completely random. I have a normal name ect. I make it as legitimate as possible, I quest ect. Im not too worried but others do not practice as safe botting practices as me /:

I have nothing to add to the thread but felt I needed to say that Brandon's signature is amazing!

I agree, it sure seems like many people are getting hit just recently, even a few here at Villavu. A lot of these public scripts will have to step up their aspects that give them the human edge.

Arn't most of them manual?

I'm going to look into the logoutonmod in the include, I don't like what it does, logging out to the lobby for 5 minutes if a Jmod comes is unacceptable. There should be a option to say something random (of users choice, and random chance) and then exit to lobby, wait amount of time (selected by user) and switch worlds(up to user)

Yeah, after the botnuke, he was in uni, then when he fixed RSBuddy in a few days, Jagex offered him a job. So he should've just finished his school. He's what, like 20 now?
Kids a genius. :(

There we multiple clients up and running within the first week after the botnuke, the only difference was RSBuddy went public.

My main strategy will be to not bot 24/7. As fun as it is to bot forever with no randoms, if I worked at Jagex I would put up a list of all accounts that have been logged in for more than 20 hours and put then on a watchlist. If they continue this pattern for days, there is no way they're human.

Although Ashaman88 has pretty much proven that Jagex doesn't check login time ;)

Honestly that can no longer be considered a red flag for Jagex as they've stated something along the lines of account sharing not being against the rules, just highly recommended against. I wish I knew exactly where I read this at, as I'm quite sure it was revision of the official rules and posted somewhere.

I'm pretty sure Asha takes daily breaks on the week long proggys.

I think they can ban us 24/7 and there isn't really a "better" time to bot

I'm pretty sure the main reason they hired him was because he took the fixed RSBuddy client to runefest and showed that the botnuke was easily undone, if he hadn't of done that I doubt they would of hired him. But hey who knows what goes on when it comes to jagex

I received a 2-day ban on my main account. I was going at it 20 hrs+ a day for a few months though. I'm done with runescape anyways :p
