Scripters etiquette?

Is it poor etiquette to release a script to the public that will without a doubt 100% decrease the price of items involved? For example I have a OSR law runecrafter that has ran over 8 hours before and makes slightly under 300k/hr. Would it be rude to release it to the public knowing that it will reduce the price of laws? Same thing with natures and magic logs, although releasing my mage chopper isn't likely to reduce the value of mage logs much, there are already loads of botters that cut these.

Just curious, any opinions on the matter are valued. I am sure there are loads of private scripts out there that I could really mess up the profits on.

If YOU want to release it to the public, why not

I think its still up to the scripter themselves whether they want to release the script or not. And I don't think it has anything to do with poor etiquette for releasing such scripts. I believe the legits don't rely on only law crafting to make their money, there are way much better methods. I am certain they don't enjoy doing law crafting whole day too. People hate such releases probably because they are selfish, they want to keep such profit themselves, not because of the script crashing the economy a little. You won't see people raging and say "Damn you scripter, now I can't buy law runes at higher price anymore".

Scripters release these scripts because they enjoy making scripts and wanna show off their hardwork. They want to get feedback and critiques to encourage themselves making more scripts, which is unexpectedly not happening quite often (you only get replies in thread when script has problem).

Poor etiquette is when someone request for a law runecrafter and says "This script would be so famous and have very good runecrafting xp! You can later train magic with all the law runes! Good runecrafting xp and magic xp!".

That's my opinion, not saying its 100% correct.

No, because most people use Tri-bot anyway which probably already has a law crafter. Do what you want though

It's completely your choice, I don't think there is anything wrong with releasing it though if that's what you're wondering.

All script releases are uniquely up to the decision of the scripter. Most are against heavy gold-farming scripts (not because it lowers the price of the one item, but because it brings so much more gold into the game for RWT and heavy botting), but some are fine with it. But in the end, it's your decision as to whether or not you release.

as everyone has said, do what you want to :D

if you want to use the script to train/get gp then you might want to hold it for a bit … otherwise if you script to learn then releasing will help you improve it as you can get a load of users reporting any potential issues :D

It's up to you! As most have said a lot of people don't release major gold farming scripts ( most sell them..) so as not to ruin it, but it's up to you! There is no poor scripters etiquette when it comes to releasing scripts, except if it is not yours ;)

If its a good script, apply for members with it and post it in members+ area.

My response would be a combination of Hax and Hazzah's comments. In a nutshell, the choice is yours, no one else's regardless of their ranks and if you choose against it you can always apply for membership with both of them. Furthermore, if you'd like, you can request for them to be released in the Members section of the forum if you really wanted your scripts out there. Personally I'd recommend you apply for Members with both of them, but keep in mind that much, much more is taken into account when judging an application. Activity, helpfulness, and attitude are HUGE factors in this decision.
