So DARPA (Defence advanced research program agencies) is trying to create a super soldier, thoughts?

I think the science behind it all could be useful in many scientific fields and that many uses could be found for the technology. Not particularly fond of the idea of "super soldiers" though. Why must we try and destroy everyone/thing?
