Hi there! :)

We are getting very close to a beta release of SRL-6, and there are some updates to Simba and/or Lape that would greatly help scripters planning to use the new include. I've compiled a list that can be viewed here.

Stuff not in the PDF:

If there are any thoughts or concerns, please post or PM me. :)

Thanks,
Coh3n

Cool! This is a very useful list :)

I think these are all Simba issues, though.
The function list and code hints both work independent of the interpreter. Unfortunately, that is also mostly my code.

Fortunately, these components require very little knowledge of how the interpreters work, and could perhaps be fixed by other Simba developers as well. I'm not sure about my spare time for the coming 2 months, but I'm willing to assist any one who needs assisting.

Okay, in that case, I'm going to move this to the Simba development section.

Thanks!

Will break the function list (using := to set a const rather than =):

const
hello := 5000;

procedure foo();
begin
end;

Edit: Oops, meant to hit reply =P

This isn't really a topic for bug reporting….

Also, his list already included a working function list….

Another question… WHY DO WE HAVE LIKE 4 DIFFERENT PLACES FOR BUGS?

This sub-forum section needs to just be a link to the mantis… (or GitHub which I think would be better)

I DON'T KNOW WHY.

You guys should probably pick one and go with that. :p

I'll create a github issue if it will make you happy. :)

E: Maybe use the new forum's bugs feature? http://villavu.com/forum/project.php

That way users don't need a gitbub/mantis account to report a bug.

Actually when i asked hobbit why there was no simba section on the bugs part on the forums
he said Wizzup wanted to keep it all on mantis :p

Mantis has better options than the Projects of vB, and GitHub tho it seems we don't take advantage of them anyways….

Because no one wants to sign up for that.. Every time I see a bug, I go to the mantis page and end up just closing the tab and thinking to myself.. "Meh someone else will do it or find it eventually." lol laziness ftl.

Seriously no one is going to "sign up" just to report a bug. Its easier to just throw it in a thread and hope someone sees it (usually seen almost instantly). Have you seen how dirty the Smart section is? LOL.. Programming section doesn't even have sections anymore (IE: Different languages).. Everything is General.

Github would at least be easier to report on because a lot of us here have a github account.

That's my point. Everyone has a forum account, everything is done on the forums, why not have bug reports on the forums as well.

Github and Mantis may have more options, but 99% of people won't use them + the ones vB has seems to be enough in my opinion.

That's what everybody was saying when we were debating the new layout. But Wizzup was like, "Nup, Simba stays in Mantis".

Wizzup?

Just go with whatever you like. I don't mind either way. We have some in github and some in mantis. I don't have a problem with mantis, but if you want to integrate it into the forum, go right ahead. But it'll only get messier for Simba bugs.

Just thought of another issue. Some of the functions in the Simba function list haven't been exported to Lape (AddOnTerminate comes to mind).

AddOnTerminate is and was not apart of Simba?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure any function that is in Simba needs to be exported to the interpreter. In Lape, not all function are exported. The reasons behind his I do not know.

Recently addOnTerminate was added to simba, https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/blob/master/Units/MMLAddon/PSInc/psexportedmethods.inc#L184

And there's also a version on it for script properties which, to my knowledge has been there for a long time https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/blob/master/Units/MMLAddon/PSInc/psexportedmethods.inc#L184

But more importantly adding AddOnTerminate to lape needs some more work than just exporting the function.
