I find it annoying how the writer repeatedly calls the GP worthless and of no real value when there is a massive trade for them. The writer seems ignorant and like they didn't do any research on the topic whatsoever. Not to mention, Jagex has placed a value on GP via the SoF, which according to the HLF is about $2 Australian/ 1m

Well it has no official value. Also Jagex's $2/m value is arbitrarily high.

My friend once did a drop party while I went to the bathroom.
Full Sara, Zammy, Guthix, Wiz G, and 2 sets of rune.
My life was over because to me that was all I had and it took me like 5 years to get. That 10ish mil was like 1B to me.

Well in a sense I wasn't hacked. I just took a good long poop. After the relief of aborting that dinosaur egg, I come back to my life savings (120 some-odd days playing time) had been dropped and I was being swarmed by people saying I was the best and that I should do another drop party. My friend sits there laughing. I was like "dude, what teh f*x did you do?" and then I checked my bank.

I had 107 wheat as my net worth.

Lets just say I learned very early in life who my real friends were. That kid never came back to my house ever again. I became devoured by the game after that incident- devoting days and weeks of my life to reclaim my lost fortune.
Today I stand proudly (stupid isn't it?) knowing that I've made what I lost +30ish mil (and what I got from winning the contest). even though the ratio of worth of GP is far less than what it was way back when, I'm content with 100M. I'm going to be investing a lot into my next script for members application.
