Walking with Dynamic DTM's

This is something that just popped up: Imagine making a couple of Dynamic DTM's for RoadWalking, consisting of one MainPoint and two SubPoints with var RoadColor:
  1. one long straight long line e.g. *———-#——–#
  2. one middlelong sraight line *—–#—–#
  3. one short straight line *–#–#
  4. one T-split (large, middle and small)
  5. one 4-bifuration (large, middle and small)

Theoretically, this would be enough to walk anywhere along the road using FindDTMRotated, provided you set the Radians wisely (2pi = 360 degrees). You could use this to scan the minimap for straightline-DTM's within any anglebounds. Scan first for the longest line, if that is not found, try the middlelong line and if that is not found, try the short line.

I dont have any graphic capabilities here, so cant explain in detail, but I hope you get the picture. I am just placing it here so I dont forget, but if anyone catches my drift..experiment!

EDIT: Might be a great addition for WebWalker…Boreas?

it could work, but im not very experienced with dynamic dtms, so im not exactly sure how it would work. but its a good idea. :spongebob:

Very, very cool idea, Fakawi!

I'll try this when I get home

If we could make a 'path' format (each different dtm has a different letter to identify it; you assemble these letters into a string that scar would parse and walk along), webwalking would be extremely easy. Instead of a large procedure for each route, all you'd need would be a 10-30 character string.

I like this idea, pretty good for T split walking and that stuff.
Can you tell me, is this picture right about the DTMs?
Excuse me for the trees, I found them somewhere at google…

Hmm how are Dynamic DTM's different to normal? :D total noob here is there a tut?

i cant remember who it was, but someone i was talking to on MSN(from this forum) was telling me about this script he was working on to detect walls on the minimap, maybe it could be a derivative of that… even better, get the script to make a mask of exactly where the roads are, with some sort of mix between findbitmapmask and getcompassangle, so you constantly know where you are.

perhaps run 2 scripts simultaneously(interscarmessaging) which makes it so if the pathing screws up, it will automatically detect where you are, and get you back to where you need to be.

imagine if we mapped ALL of runescape like this, so we could get from lumbridge to(im not sure how far the runescape map goes, before i left it went to the flax picker thingy with the level 1 agility course)

Perfect mapping.

you would probably need a huge ammount of ram to run it though, so maybe make it load in sections, like runescape the game.
actually, why not break up the sections into the exact same sections that it IS broken up to in the game, so that when it detects the "loading" thing in the top right corner that is indicative of a new place being loaded into the ram, it automatically figures out which place it is, and loads that bitmap.

the possibilities are endless

Endless but quite hard too.

Im not sure is this what you are meaning elemental, but if you look at SRL Member Forum >> SRL New Functions and scroll down , you will propably find thread by me "VarrockRadialRoadWalk". It is RadialRoadWalk which skips the walls (atleast the walls of east varrock for example if walking to VEM)

Fakawi, I thought you were already using this method for walking?

I probably would too, except I haven't done any "real" walking with DDTMs.

I never used DDTMs for mapwalking, even better I even made only 1 DDTM i nmy whole life! :)

But I know the thread date…

But it could work, has it been made yet?

Yes, it works and yes, it has been made.. Paths.scar ;)

Thanks for info, but what bout:
{
procedure SetupPaths;
begin
// YOUR PATHS IN HERE
end;
}
in the include.
Do we have to setupt the "path index" in our script or in the include?

in the script I think, I was fooling around with it and I couldn't get it to work, I am pretty sure they are just telling you to have a setup proc. If you set them up in the include, people would have to edit theirs to use the script. Someone make a tut please?

Ineed, not enough information is shared with us, we need a tut or something! :f:
