Blue is statistically more often picked.

Not totally true because your blood has oxygen in it once it passes through your lungs.

I don't think our blood becomes blue at any time… the types of blood are just illustrated with blue and red colors for didactic reasons…

There is a myth that blue blood is why veins are blue. But veins aren't even blue, they are reddish-brown, they just look blue because they way light is reflected/absorbed by the skin.

While water / crystals etc will split white light up, there are many things that manipulate color.. our skin for example, allows red to pass through, however reflects blue, therefore we see blue.
