OCR Question

Howdy, I'll start off by saying that I apologize if this is the wrong section. :3

Alright, so basically I've been doing some online classes where some of the text is actual text; meaning I can highlight it, copy it, et cetera, however recently I've been struck with a massive chunk of lessons whose author thought it'd be clever to convert random pages of the lessons into GIF transparencies, and sometimes PNG transparencies (it's random), so I have to manually type anything I want to put down for notes.

I've been working on this class for literally the past 16 hours (I'm pulling an all-nighter, no sleep for me) and I remembered that Simba supports OCR (Optical Character Recognition, if I'm correct?). So, ultimately, my question is: Would it be relatively easy for me to make a script that can analyze the GIF/PNG image of text, and print out (in Simba, not physically print lol) a copy/pastable real text version of it? I know the font, it's regular Arial, seems pretty simple. If it would be easy for me to do, and there are any threads that could teach me how, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could link me to them.

I'm pretty new to Pascal, so any help would be appreciated.

Here's an example of one of the PNGs from the lesson:

I think you'd need to make your own custom font for Simba to read, there's probably a tutorial on making custom fonts in the tutorial section.

So far I've found these:

Hopefully those will give me all I need to know. I'll be sure to post back later if I have any questions. Thanks!

Those first two tutorials I would recommend you read over. You'll need to create your own font set for for a-z twice (capital & lowercase) and that's explained in Shuttleu's tutorial. Naum's is the easy part of finding the text.

Trent! you could also just use the OCR function in simba to read that directly rather than making a Custom Font since you know the font and technically guess the size by just trial and error.

That website was almost perfect. There are some kinks here and there that would improve it if they were adjusted, but overall nothing I can't get past. Thanks a lot for the website!
