Client Development...

So… i'm fairly knowledgeable in Java but I don't have the slightest clue as to how one would go about making a botting client like Epicbot or Powerbot. I know this is way above my head but I still want to know how someone would go about it. Also, is java the only language you could write the client in? Sorry for the stupid questions… just wondering.

You can inject into Runescape via c++ also I believe but it does not have the library's or something… ask @Brandon

You could write the client in any language you feel like. However, if you want to use Reflection or injection based coding (like epicbot or powerbot), you will need to either use Java directly, or create a java linker (at which point just using java would have been easier) to translate the code to call it from another language.
It also will involve lots of "hooks" based work to grab the information from the runescape client. This tutorial should help ya out if you're curious: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98975

Honestly I'd recommend you ask the guys over at Moparisthebest. They deal a lot with "client-hacking". Anyone who has ever created a RS bot has learned a thing or two from that community.

Although "Moparscape forums" are a bit better (Moparisthebest links off from them but they are a bit dead now)

Moparscape relates to private servers while Moparisthebest still pertains to the current RS.

This is true.. Most of the tutorials are really really out of date though but the logic is the same and still used in bots today. The replies on that forum are pretty slow but eventually you get a reply to your question. Most of the time, the replies would mostly come from "Ollie" over there.

I thought moparisthebest was pretty much dead in the RS sections as most of the content there is from 2008, 2009, 2010.. Barely anything new but the content is very much relevant. Especially if making an Oldschool bot.

You'll of course need more than just basic knowledge..
