Is it possible for a F2P player to get the 10k of ore required to make an weapon?

They are mostly for cosmetic uses.
F2P players can get the ore, but they cannot get the diamond. The diamond is members only.

I think ey are pretty cool looking :D But they have very little use fr actual battle and e ore is expensive to buy from others from what I've heard.

Kind of pointless weapons for fighting… better use for mining or smithing experience

I made one and no, they're not worth it. They look kinda neat, but they're worse than weapons that already exist.

You can trade the ore in for xp so I wonder how much mining xp/h that would be by mining at rune essence mines and dropping the essence…

Well at 80+ mining/smithing it's 5 mining/smithing xp per ore with a max of 20k ore exchanged per day. So that's 100k free smithing/mining xp on top of the mining xp for mining it. I'll make a script when I get home and the proggy will tell me how much xp/h it is :)

I'm not sure, it's player to player though so if someones logged in they could check pretty quickly :)

If its around 500-600 each now, and if you were to get lucky to get around 800-1k ores/hour, it could be some good profit

people are selling this ore for ridicules amounts,for like 1k ore u get 7k smithing xp seems crazy. i made a bow cost 10000 ore, wish i dident and used it for xp instead :(

Inside source says you mine 542 ores per hour. That's 120k gp/h F2P at lv 79 mining.

Then on may 20th, any remaining ore will be removed from the game

Screw the weapons, I just earned myself a big hand full of Mining exp ;)

When you make one of the weapons you can right click on them to change them between tiers 1, 20, 40, and 60, which changes the stats and requirements. They have something like 90% of the accuracy and power of other things of their level, though :/

Glad I have a lot of ore to convert to xp on the f2p pure. Might use it to make gp on my main.

I do like their appearance, though. I just wish the stats were up to par.

Are we sure the diamond we need to make the weapons is members only? I mined one on my f2p pure account earlier and so it cannot be members only. The wiki page says it is but does anyone know for sure?

I've mined alot in f2p but haven't got one yet.. In SoF it's member's only and there is no use for it in f2p. But I think it's mineable in f2p ;)

I've looked various fansites and all tell it's members only and not tradable. Gives 2000 mining EXP when you sell it to Ivar.

They're talking about the Starborn Diamond, not the Starlight Ore.

A bug, maybe? It wouldn't be the first time nonmembers have been able to gain access to a members only object that they weren't supposed to.

You could just wait for the dragon keepsake keys for weapons later this month if you don't mind spending real money (or gp –> money).

All In All There Shitty weapons I Should Of Just Went With The Mining xp *Sigh*
