me like a n*b clicked the link with out checking befor downloading because my one of the scripts didnt seem to work. that was working hours ago so i fort that must of been the problem.

i downloaded it but didnt extract the file and open it i deleted it right away.
you think my PC will be at risk or will i be fine.

Be sure to scan your machine.

If you receive PMs about a simba or srl update, it is not legit. Working on a more permanent solution to this problem. IP bans only slow them down unfortunately.

Then what happens to the users who need to send a legit PM to another forum member? They have to make it public? No thanks.

We should make some kind of restriction, like no links or emails until 25-30 posts?

This is perfect. Or make it that you cannot PM other registered users, only SRL members?

Just have it so that when a user PM's another user with a link in the Message (detected using a regex perhaps) AND post count is under 10, it must be approved by SSRL or Members or whatever..

Though. I don't remember who? Perhaps Senrath or someone said that due to VB restrictions or something like that, this may be a lot harder to implement.

I did, but that was based on years old knowledge of vB, and it very well might be wrong. Just need an Admin to see if they can do it simply.

Be careful - don't click randoms links.

A lot of these could be fixed/slowed down tremendously by requiring even 1 post to private message.

We usually catch spam bots and they get banned when they start posting.

I appreciate all of your solutions to the problem but unfortunately they are all based upon (incorrect) assumptions about how vBulletin is structured. Unfortunately it does not allow the sort of restrictions to make it an easy fix.
