Infractions for Script Copies

Overview : Given I'm new to SSRL rankings, I've some questions about a Do's and Do Not's - pertaining to an issue in this discussion, centered around script violations.

I noticed a thread, here, http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100247

In this thread, there's strong evidence (I assume this comparison would be made by a global mod +) that it's indeed a copy (with deleted / ever so slightly edited code) of the Original posters script, found - previously removed thread from public / deleted / removed) of registered user and Member, Nebula. (Worth noting that another, 3rd party member has had his thread (found here http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101075 ) locked via @Justin; for breaking the same rules already - and quite possibly with the same script from Nebula).

Thus, with the information above, and more found within linked and mentioned threads, although this is a [highly] potential violation of the rules, and given the lack of access to the original copy; what would be the ideal course of action from a SSRL stand point? Would one SSRL member decide to issue an infraction given they cannot close the thread, or would it be better to solely report the thread and let the global mod + decide the infraction and course of action for the accused thread?

Upon noticing the issue, I decided to not do anything until further notice here on this thread, if I can draw a conclusion that is.

Cheers,
Le jingle :)

Generally, if I feel action needs to be taken I give an infraction and report the thread for further action by a mod. If I'm unsure, then I just report the thread/post.

Add a post copying the rules, maybe even explaining the rules, and give a warning. This is a new user. An infraction will do more harm then good imo as we want to be a positive force on the forum.

Alright, thanks for the fast feedback; this was what I've been thinking too.

However, I've a hard time for the moment finding what I should need to issue an infraction.

Would it be safe to say, for example, if a user breaks a rule explicitly (no major rule (ban-able) - just a potential rule that constitutes an infraction + doesn't attack another user) to issue a warning, and then, the opposite situation (along the lines that the action of some user does issue a light/mild/heavy attack on another user) as well as adds to the issue by repetitively enforcing/saying/bringing it up, then this would constitute for immediate infraction given + report to moderator?

Hope the above makes sense, I'm still trying to make sure there's some margin between warning and infraction + additional report (pretty safe if you report every time regardless, I'd think)

Cheers,
Le Jingle

Ah, I thank you, this was under my radar until now for consideration upon decision. I like making such a topic, as the influence and input is gravely appreciated :)

You don't have to report threads after you gave an infraction. Unless you expect a certain action to be taken by a staff member you can't (like deleting posts) or if you are unsure what to do and it is serious.

You've been given mini-mod powers because we believe you are able to decide that yourself. Give them when you think is appropriate. It can always be reverted.(but that rarely happens)

Ah, see, I think my mind had come a wee bit convoluted, and hearing this helps clear the clutter from distinguishing situations. After all, from what you've told me, I think it's safe to assume that it really comes down to the goals of the community and taking the most positive enforced approach to help those goals be met.

Thanks masterBB :)

(Thanks Asha, figured it would only do some more good than any, if at all bad, to ask/make the thread)
