Hello guys, I have been working on a script for a few days now. The only issues I have are with pathing. I've spent countless hours experimenting with the different types of mapwalking. I am a very self sufficient person, and it takes a lot for me to ask for help, but I feel that I am stuck. After working with each method of mapwalking, here are my reviews of each:
SPSPathing:
Very well put together, and is not too difficult to code, once you get the hang of it. Although, making a custom map irritates the hell out of me. Works great until I log out and the map shifts. The script that I'm writing requires me to to walk on a 2 square wide path. When the map is shifted (compass is north, but map is at about 4 degrees), the pathing becomes very prone to failing. I attempted to add failsafes that detect if you made it to the current position or not, but when the map shifts, my DTMs become unstable, as well.
My script enters a different area 4 times during the duration of it. Do you think it would be better to make custom maps, or to combine numerous portions from the default 07 map included in the SPS?
DTMWalking:
Although it was a bit fun to make the paths, it turned out being very unstable after logging out and refreshing RS. I feel that this method is the most unreliable of the three, due to mapshifting.
RadialWalking:
The method that I am currently using. I feel that this method of walking may be the most reliable, to work with the automatic shifting of the map. I am just having issues with it stopping in a 4 squared box after walking 5+ points, with each point usually straying at least one box per radialwalk pass.
I also can't seem to grasp the concept of autocoloring and getroad methods. How stable are these functions in OSRS, anyway? Also, how would I detect if the character made it to the desired point successfully
Any, and all help/discussion is welcome. If anybody would rather talk through Skype, my ID is 'chase.hxc'. I would prefer not to release the script on here in regards to anti-goldfarming.
Thanks guys :)
