How Long have You Played Runescape?
8 Year(s)

Are you affilated in anyway with Jagex LTD?
No

Were you Referred to SRL?

What is your general programming knowledge?
I'm actually a Software Engineering and Computer Science dual major, I know a variety of languages with my strong suits being c++ and java. I've been messing around with Simba and Pascal for a little while now, learning the basics.

Are you a member of any other communities?
Powerbot, although not really active at all on there. However, I have a strong feeling this site will be different. Just love the interaction with the community.

From: NightHawk12
Hello, my name is Steven - Although you can call me NightHawk. As mentioned above, I'm a university student at the University of Virginia, dual majoring in Software Engineering and Computer Science. I've been playing runescape on and off since 2005. As many oldschool players, I quit around 2010-2011'sh, a little while before EoC was released. I played EoC for about 2 days, and was horribly disgusted. However, now that 2007 is back I am… ecstatic to say the least! While I haven't been involved with the community much at all, I plan to as I am quite fascinated with programming in general and as much as I disagree with some tendencies of pascal, I find it quite fun to play around with on my spare time from my studies.

Anywho, after playing around with simba a lot, creating some basic scripts, and watching hours upon hours of tutorials, I would like to join this community, maybe release some of my scripts (Although, they're probably not the prettiest as of right now).

To the bottom is one of my scripts I messed around with. Did some research on some other scripts, decided to make one of my own, put 3 anti leeches in it as well in case I would ever release, even though you don't need them anymore. The script worked fine for me, although of course you have to monitor it, as all it takes is one random and boom.

Please show us one (or multiple) of your scripts.

I am sorry you need to be more active on the site, SRL members is a community rank > scripting rank.
Also your script needs to be far more advanced!
Please check out the guide that will be posted below (I am on my phone so will post later)

I'm going to vote no.
Reasons
1) You have only just joined.
2) You've got 1 post.
3) The script is way to short and simple.

Also like [XoL] said it is to do with how well you get on here and how helpful and active you are.
You may be good at scripting/programming but it's not just about that, plus you have to show us you are, which you haven't in this case.
Look around the forums get to know some people, help out and learn as much as you can before applying again, if you wish to do so.
I hope you do stick around and I'm sure if your persistent enough you will get to be an SRL member.

What the other two said sums it up pretty well. Here is a guide on what you and your script should have before applying:

Agreed, that guide listed above is pretty much exactly what I follow when I choose to vote. I want to see the community involvement and the "Definite" listing in the script as well as either something unique or a fulfillment of the "nice to show" section.

Got excited for the script after reading you are doing a major in Software Engineering and Computer Science, got disappointed unfortunately. Script is really basic and I suggest taking a look at the proper syntax before you learn it the wrong way - it's annoying to change it up afterwards.

You should really look into functions that actually return something instead of relying on a global variable. You also have X, Y as a variable and make a local variable of them aswell which seems rather pointless.

Small example here.
function Combat: Integer;
begin
if FindColor(X, Y, 65280, 220, 110, 330, 220) then
begin
Result := 1;
WriteLn('Die Ghoul!');
end;
end;
Returns 0 if the color is not found, otherwise it returns 1 and debugs a line.

Based on just the script I would vote no already, sorry. Good luck learning.

Hey there,

Unfortunately I have to vote no. I would say contribute a bit more to the community and let us get to know you.
Ps. UVa! I was going to attend there :)

Your first post is this application, that's not a goo idea. You need alot more activity then that. People have already stated that, though.

I'm going to focus on what you need in your script, that'll help you the most in this situation.

-Much more advanced.
-TPAs/ATPAs
-Better Antiban
-Failsafes
-More/better randomization
-Longer script
-Declaring x, and y, globally is a big nono in SRL members, if you're using it for moving the mouse.
-Try and declare your variables locally (Within the procedure/function), more effecient usually.

Alright, I had no idea that the 'members' was something more prestigious. I've made a few other more advanced scripts. This one was never one I planned on releasing, despite the anti-leeches. I just ran this one on ghouls while I watched Netflix, and if something would happen (random), I would simply stop it and do the random, etc (So in other words, it worked fine for me, although I do agree that it could definitely be improved). Thanks for the feedback though, I do plan on getting more involved with the community, eventually release my first script (It's for Ape Atoll Agility Course, if anybody is interested you can private message me). Picked that because there's no randoms, and it seems these forums are lacking an Ape Atoll Agility Course bot. For old school Runescape at least. Anyways, as stated in the first post, my name is Steven and I'll be glad to get more involved into the community, maybe I can come back in a few months and get that membership. Cheers :)

In my defense, I just started messing around with Pascal and the global variables were more so me expanding a bit. My newer script(s), especially the Ape Atoll Agility Course I'm working on which has no global variables but plenty of constants. I took a different approach than most however, and I have a procedure for each individual "obstacle", and another function that will return a boolean of whether or not the coordinates are past the particular obstacle, and if so it will call another procedure to do the next. If anybody wants to throw in there 2 cents, I can definitely put up what I have so far.

Mate there's no need to have a defense, he wasn't attacking :P
Just stay determined and I don't recommend Anti-Leech on a none antileech site.
Good luck!

Yes that is a good idea, I pretty much do the same in my eoc version :)
