For example, if there was a function that was crucial to my script and there is a bug in the function that I know the fix to, could I copy that function and put it in my script?

Or, if there was a function that cannot be changed at all in SRL, can I copy it into my script?

Yea, i copy stuff from SRL all the time! Im sure its alright. If they didnt want it to be copied, they wouldnt have made it open source, or at least they would've mentioned it ;)
