Methods on finding if the player is fishing with a harpoon?

I already tried pixel shift, which works ok, but when its crowded it can mess up.
I also have tried; every 10 seconds or so, it'll check if it gained inv space, if not it'll find a fishing spot.

I'd really like some help. Thanks!

If compass is facing north, check for the color of the tool in a precise location, I fixed mine to find a fishing rod exactly in front of the player. PM me if you need help!
